I'm so jealous. I was going to visit Istanbul (and some other places in Turkey as well) last fall, but then with the baby and other changes I had to cancel. My wife and I had the whole trip planned out. Maybe in a year or two we can try again.

I see in this painting a peaceful scene of a family walking across the Ice to go to grandmothers for dinner. Then comes galloping in swiftly, it is Lancier, breaking the ice and plunging the family into the freezing water. He then grabs the mother to be used for his rough pleasures and the baby to be sold into slavery. Clinging to his beloved wife and trying to save his family, the father is skewered by Lancier's deadly namesake as he sinks to his cold, dark, watery, grave. Oh the horror.

Lancier, you should be ashamed of yourself.
