I have heard that the charge is now OP. I believe it is OP versus commanders who allow themselves to be outnumbered without cavalry support. Never risk a charge if you are winning the firefight unless circumstances demand swift action, such as you are losing or must take a risk to gain initiative. Simply shoot them as long as you are winning. Step a little closer and shoot more, then if they try to pull away charge them. Of course the first priority is not to be in a losing firefight or outnumbered and too close to the enemy.

Tactics aren't worth much if you can't get to the fight.

Fullin used his weaker units to occupy the French army across the river while his elite troops remained with his allies to give them the numerical advantage on that side of the river. Undertsanding the importance of the bridge Fullin startegically placed his artillery to defend that point and discourage the French from attacking there. When the French launched an attack on Fullin's left, though their tactic of using cavalry to force the square just before the grenadiers charged in had some success, Fullin's control of the bridge allowed him to withdraw back across the river leaving the French army to rot on the other side.

Thank you Hannibalic.

Your statement is the best strategy for defeating the Marshal who inspired it. Isolate the Prancing Taylor and make him impotent thus eliminating the most effective weapon in your opponent's arsenal.
