Latour embarrassed

I held the left flank like a rock. Against the waves of Latour and Folque. Custer would've been proud.

The left held the right annihilated.

Latour Embarrassed? He fought with rabble and no TS and had 500 more kills than you...?

Humility especially in public is the hallmark of a humble gentleman.
Generosity to the vanquished, especially from the invincible is the sign of a heroic legend.
At the least give a poor fellow his proper due.

The excitement is regarding the left where I held out against two opponents. Where Latour was unable to break me with great numerical advantage in my perilous position. Humility yes. Lets see Davout won the real battle at Auerstad but Napoleon got all the credit for it with Jena.

Who placed Davout in command of the III Corps? Who ordered Davout to Jena? Had the battle been lost who would have been called defeated?

Note also that Davout never deserted his Emperor on the the field of battle, no matter how pathetic their other allies were.
