Fullin, first of all, kudos for getting over the disappointment of the first attempt and giving this campaign another chance. Your effort is greatly appreciated.
I know I was not a pillar of the first campaign, but I was impressed by the robustness of the campaign concept and rules, and this time I am in the position to fully commit and see this campaign through.
At the same time, IMHO, the main challenge was and remains to make MP battles special.
In order to achieve this, the events on the campaign map should be reflected in MP battles as much as possible. Armies strength is reflected, LoC units help in deciding the winner, always attack/defense game, armies one day way join. So far so good. But I would suggest to go further and consider two additional features.
Firstly, I would propose to introduce delays for forces marching on SoG. Say, force is day marching from the battlefield - 30 min delay, half day marching - 15 mins in battle time, and designate the starting position of that force. Or split day in three and allow 10/20/30 mins delay. I can assure you this would add a level of complexity and fun, and would give (outnumbered) defender better chance to survive the day or perhaps even turn the unfortunate events on the campaign map around.
Secondly, objectives should not be linked just to arbitrary position of LoC generals, but umpire could perhaps be more specific about objectives by imposing position of at least one LoC general (e.g., hold cross roads A, or house B, or height C).
Last but not least, although I partly share Sloop's concern about popularity of the regimental-level beta atm, I think that version would make MP battles more special and hopefully will be used.
